(Faculty of Textile Technology, Zagreb. Nina Rezek - Wilson. Supervisor, Durdica Kocijancic. associate)

Zlatko Tanodi was born in 1953 in Zagreb, where he graduated in composition from the Academy of Music under Milo Cipra. He pursued his career as both composer and performer at the same time. Having played the piano and synthesizer, he became familiar with various genres: he founded the jazz ensemble Opus X, and has worked with the ACEZANTEZ ensemble, achieving a resounding success in both of these activities. In the past years, Mr. Tanodi has dedicated much of his time to composing incidental music. He has specialized in electronic music, a professional interest which provided him with an opportunity to become in charge of the electronic music studio at the Zagreb Academy of Music, where he was appointed Head of the Composition and Theory of Music Department in 2000.

The composer's notes on the work, “The idea of composing Requiem first came into my mind when I was working with Lidija Horvat Dunjko on the composition 'Anima – Animus ', also written for soprano and Kyma, and premiered at the 2001 Music Biennale Zagreb. Considering the fact that this is interactive music in which the female voice creates and controls musical parameters generated by an electronic device, the composition should have been entitled 'Requiem for a Woman Alone '. (according to Schaeffer's 'Symphonie pour un homme seul'). The piece begins with a composer's summary – a flashback made of quoted sections taken from other compositions which guide us through the time tunnel towards bright light. And this is the moment when the Mass for the Dead begins...”

Lidija Horvat-Dunjko, born in Varazdin in 1967, graduated from the Voice Department at the Zagreb Academy of Music under Zdenka Zabcic, where she was subsequently appointed senior lecturer. She continued with further studies under Olivera Miljakovic and Dunja Vejzovic. A series of her successful appearances on stage in Croatia and abroad includes opera and concert performances. She nurtures a stylistically diverse repertoire, while her sound recordings have been released on a regular basis.

Frano Durović (Dubrovnik, 1971) graduated in composition from the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Frano Parać. In addition to orchestral, chamber and instrumental works, he has also composed a great number of electronic and electro-acoustic compositions, installations and multimedia projects in which he successfully combines music with various forms of the visual arts. He has received several prestigious awards (the Josip Štolcer Slavenski and Stjepan Šulek Awards). He is a regular member of the Croatian Composers' Society and works as a senior lecturer at the Zagreb Academy of Music.

Sanja Jakupec (Pakrac, 1968) graduated in fashion design from the Faculty of Textile Technology in 2002 and co-founded the MUSTRE Fashion Workshop. She has been pursuing her career as a costume designer in theatre, on film and television, as a fashion designer and stylist in various magazines and workshops. Her works displayed at fashion shows and exhibitions have earned her a number of awards. She is also interested in photography.
